The Site Challenge
The original fence had several posts rotted at ground level and a visible lean along one boundary run — a common issue on Te Atatū's exposed, wind-affected sections where untreated older timber deteriorates faster.
Materials Used
- H4-treated pine posts
- H3.2 paling boards
- Galvanised fixings
- Concreted footings
Work Completed
Removed and disposed of the old fence, dug and concreted new H4 posts to the depth required for the site's wind exposure, then installed close-board palings with galvanised fixings throughout.
Maintenance Recommendation
Re-stain or oil every 2–3 years to protect the timber from Auckland's rain and UV exposure, and check post bases annually for early signs of moisture damage.
Project Overview
Replaced a rotting, leaning boundary fence with a 1.8m H4-treated pine paling fence. New posts were concreted to spec for coastal wind exposure, delivering instant privacy and a clean, modern street frontage.
